On Jan 7th, 2025 In Defense of Animals released their annual "10 Worst Zoos for Elephants" list and the Edmonton Valley Zoo came in at #3. No surprise, as they deserve it! They have made the list many times over the years. See the graphic to see where they were other years. We thank IDA for recognizing this and adding pressure to the zoo. LUCY DOCUMENTARY

March 19, 2025: LEAP was joined at the Metro Edmonton Cinema by Director Fern Levitt, Les O'Brien, Debi Zimmermann & Bob Jacobs (via Skype) for the screening of the captive elephant documentary featuring Lucy. This project had been in the works for 4 years and the film was premiered here. We had a great, receptive crowd and there was a Q&A with the aforementioned (including LEAP President Mary-Ann Holm) after the movie. It is now being taken across Canada with showings in Toronto and Hamilton and other cities to be announced.
